Great video showing real and virtual car at Heemstede track
Everybody wonder how close to the real thing VRC is. We have posted a video on the Heemstede track page which shows a lap of a real race car blended in to a lap of a virtual car at the Heemstede track. Todd 'the wizz' Wasson, our physics engine expert, came up with this video in a study of a new tire model that he is working on. Not being an r/c racer himself he has real r/c car footage to compare the car's performance before he sends the physics engine on to testers for further evaluation.
This video was made using an experimental physics engine with a brand new tire model. Todd has been working closely together with Doug Milliken, an authority in tire testing and vehicle dynamics, and the results are looking extremely promissing. Notice the rear of the car being quite loose, but that is due to the selected shore hardness of the tires. Todd did actually drive a full blown 1:8 scale car a couple of times, and is actually quite good at it already considering he has only driven virtual cars in VRC...
